Make Your First Trade (Buy & Sell)

Learn how to place a prediction, follow others, and stay aware of market rules.

👀 Understand What You’re Looking At

When you click into a market, you’ll see:

  • A clear question being predicted

  • The available options (usually “Yes” or “No”)

  • The current prices, reflecting market probability

  • The End Time — the moment trading closes

🕒 Always check the End Time. Once a market closes, you can’t place or change trades.

This is your window to act — be early, be informed.

As the deadline approaches, a countdown timer will appear — helping you see exactly how much time is left to trade.

You can also click the chart icon to toggle between different views of the option price trend — helpful for spotting shifts over time.

Of course, you can also trade directly by clicking on the option buttons from the market card — no need to enter the full market page.

📜 Read the Market Rules Carefully

Before making a trade, always scroll down and read the full Market Description and Rules.

  • Some markets may have special conditions or clarifications

  • Details like how a winner is determined matter

  • Many disputes come from people not reading the rules closely

Think of it like reading the fine print before betting — don’t skip it.

You can also check which phase the market is currently in, expand the full rules for more details, or view/download the rules as a PDF.

🛒 How to Buy & Sell

Placing your prediction is simple:

  1. Click into a market you’re interested in

  2. Choose an outcome ("Yes" or "No")

  3. Enter the amount to be submitted

  4. Confirm the trade — and you're in!

Use the +1, +10, or MAX buttons or drag the slider to set your amount — and see how much you could win if you’re right.

You can stay on top of trade activity, follows, and other updates by clicking the notification icon in the corner.

To sell (exit your position):

  • Go to your portfolio

  • Select the position

  • Choose “Sell” to lock in your current value before settlement

You can also enter the specific market to sell directly. If you hold positions in both outcomes (e.g. “Yes” and “No”), you’ll be able to switch between them on the sell screen.

The earlier you trade, the more room there is for price movement and potential gains.

💬 Say Something, Like, or Follow a Trade

Bayes isn’t just for silent traders — it’s a social market too.

Inside any market:

  • Click “Say something” to post a comment or insight

  • Like others' comments to show support or agreement

  • Click on someone’s Trade Record to quickly follow their trade (same side, same timing)

Prediction becomes more fun when you see how others think — and maybe even smarter.

🧨 What Happens When the Market Ends?

When a market reaches its End Time, trading stops — but the event may not be resolved immediately.

There’s a built-in 2-hour Dispute Window before final settlement.

  • If you believe the outcome is being misjudged

  • Or if there’s a lack of clarity or unfair resolution → You can initiate a Dispute

Currently, Bayes Market uses a custom on-chain verification system based on the UMA.

We aim to ensure transparent and fair resolution for every market — backed by decentralized rules, not arbitrary judgment.
